Algeria has taken many turns in its history, all leaving an impression on the national psyche. One of the most remarkable visible prints left from this passage of time is the architectural legacy left by the Romans.It is the fruition of five centuries of Roman domination which started in 46 AD, leaving a rich tapestry of artwork, architecture and mosaics now assimilated into the culture of modern day Algeria.
Day 1: Arrival in ALGIERS
Meet at airport, transfer to hotel. Sightseeing tour of Algiers visiting Notre-Dame, the 16th century Kasbah and the Bardo Museum.
Day 2: GHARDAIA
Early morning drive to Ghardaia throug to the nountains, to the M’zab region known for its unique beauty. Founded in 1053, the villages of Ghardaia resemble the shapes of a pyramid. Tranfer to the hotel for overnight.
Day 3: GHARDAIA
Tour of Ghardaia to experience its charm visiting the mosque, the cave of Daia, Beni Yezguen and the lively markets. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 4: GHARDAIA / MSILA
Drive 400 km to M’sila; en route visiting the castle of Beni Hamad. Overnight Msila.
Day 5: M’SILA / TIMGAD / BATNA
Drive to Timgad, created in 100 AD by the Emperor Trajan. The whole site remains in excellent condition since it was not resettled after its abandonment, giving it a unique place in the Roman world. Timgad offers an aspect of life in Roman times, celebrated each year with the Festival of Timgad – the pride of Algeria-. Overnight at Batna.
Day 6: BATNA / CONSTANTINE
Half day sightseeing tour of the city including the Passerelle Perregaux, El-Kantara bridge, the suspension bridge over the gorge of Sidi M’Cid, the memorial arch, and Great Mosque. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 7: CONSTANTINE / TIPAZA / ALGIERS
Transfer to the airport. End of services.
